Christmas Playlist

HAPPY HOLIDAYS, everyone!

I am one of those people where I am not at all ready to even think about Christmas before Thanksgiving (because I love Thanksgiving so much). But once the clock strikes midnight on Thanksgiving night, I am ready to deck the halls and rock around the Christmas tree. And watch Love Actually. But a large part of this celebration is, of course, music! Minus Bing Crosby, who is my favorite artist to listen to during the Holiday Season, these are some of the other songs that I love!

  • “Christmas Wrapping” by The Waitresses
  • “All I Want For Christmas is You” by Mariah Carey (A CLASSIC and my go to sing-along song!)
  • “Last Christmas” by Ashley Tisdale, and also the version by Ariana Grande
  • “Into the Silent Night” by For King and Country
  • “Santa Baby” by Taylor Swift
  • “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” by James Taylor and Natalie Cole
  • “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” by Sam Smith
  • “Santa Tell Me” by Ariana Grande
  • Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” by Little Mix

And then, of course, the ultimate classic:

  • “The Christmas Song” by Nat King Cole

I love this time of year, I hope everyone has had an amazing start to the Holiday season. I’m so looking forward to this December! I love listening to Christmas music and singing along to the songs that I love in the car… At the top of my lungs… But, then again, how is that different than any other day? 🙂

Thanksgiving x2

Happy Holidays, everyone!

Thanksgiving is officially over for me, since I had a dinner on both Thursday and Friday nights. Yesterday, on the official Thanksgiving day, we went to my grandparents who live about 40 minutes away from us. We had a beautiful dinner all together, and afterwards the little kids all wanted to play, and the adults all wanted to take a nap.

It was of course a chillier day, so it was time to break out the puffer vest. This one is from Steve Madden Girl at Khols from last year, and the green sweater and the striped top under it are both from H&M. The boots are also from last year from Target.

After dinner, my dad and I went for a walk on a trail nearby my grandparents’ house, and there was an old railroad bridge that was perfect for pictures. These pictures are only a fraction of what I actually took, but these are the ones I like the best!

Then, on Friday my family and I drove up to New Jersey to visit with my other grandparents. We met my boyfriend there, and so all three of us cousins had our s/o’s there with us! It was a blast, because we all played cards before and a little after dinner. We played Dutch Blitz with Sarah and her boyfriend, but that got a little too wild for us so we switched to “Gold-fish,” and we had a lot of fun with that, too. We took a lot of pictures (of course) of all of us together, so here are some of those…

The outfit that I wore for tonight was the pink lace bodysuit and black thigh high boots from a shopping trip that I will be posting about very soon! With that was a black skirt that was given to me by Sarah a while back.

I love the fact that this body suit is off the shoulder, which is a style that I really enjoyed wearing over the summer. This bodysuit is definitely going to be nice to wear during the end of fall into the beginning of winter. And I am obsessed with these boots. I had been looking for a nice pair, and I came across these at a great price at a store I had never heard of before! They’re super comfortable, other than the fact that since they’re so high up the leg  it can be a little difficult to bend your leg right. But now that I’ve worn them in a little bit, it isn’t as much of a problem anymore.

I hope you all had amazing Thanksgiving celebrations with your families! There is oh, so much to be thankful for… Loving family. Amazing friends. And pie, of course!

God’s Got Your Back

Hello everyone~

Life is rough. It is for everyone, and in all seasons of life. Sometimes the state of the world, the country, and my life scares me so much. The only way I’ve dealt with a lot of these feelings is turning to my faith. Here are some of the verses I’ve found most comforting lately.

Colossians 3:15

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

Hebrews 13:5

Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.

Isaiah 12:2

Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The LORD, the LORD, is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation.

Isaiah 26:3-4

You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in You. Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD is the Rock eternal.

Ephesians 2:14

For He Himself is our peace.

Ephesians 5:8

For you were once in darkness, but now you are light in the Lord.

2 Thessalonians 3:3

But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.

Matthew 11:28-30

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Hebrews 13:6

So we can confidently say,  “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”

And of course, without prayer our relationships with God are nonexistent. If you’re feeling scared or murky inside, send it up in a prayer. It helps a lot, or at least that’s what I’ve found to be true! I hope I was able to help you in some small way with this post… Comment if you have any favorite verses of your own!

50 Things that Make Me Happy

I think that it’s so important these days to count our blessings and remember the things that make us smile. So, as I was reading a blog recently and I saw that the blogger attempted this tag, I thought that it would be a good thing to do! So here are 50 things that I could think of that make me happy (although there are so many more):

  1. My family & friends.
  2. My boyfriend.
  3. Exercising.
  4. Kittens and cats.
  5. Puppies and animals in general.
  6. Driving through the countryside near my house and taking pictures of the beautiful old stone and wood barns.
  7. Socks.
  8. Lazy days where I can snuggle up in a blanket and watch Netflix or read a book.
  9. Reading.
  10. Writing.
  11. Music.
  12. Shoes. Some may say I’m addicted to them, but I don’t think I have a problem.
  13. Sunsets!
  14. Lunch and dinner with friends.
  15. Movie nights.
  16. Girls nights.
  17. Cookies.
  18. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Seriously. I could live off of these. If you ever want to take me on a picnic or make me a meal, skip the fancy stuff. Just make me a good PB&J and I’ll be a happy camper. (On toast, please).
  19. Reading fashion and lifestyle blogs.
  20. Watching YouTube videos. (MirandaSings/PsychoSoprano, anyone?)
  21. Taylor Swift.
  22. Sweatpants just out of the dryer.
  23. Long vacations.
  24. The beach.
  25. Hiking.
  26. Seashells.
  27. Warehouse 13. BEST. SHOW. EVER.
  28. Harry Potter.
  29. J.K. Rowling.
  30. SINGING.
  31. Dancing like a maniac.
  32. Early 2000s movies. (She’s All That, Bring It On, 10 Things I Hate About You… All classics!)
  33. Friends (the TV show this time).
  34. Detective shows. Including: Monk, Sherlock, Criminal Minds (just started watching this with my friends at college this past year and I’m hooked!), etc.
  35. Britney Spears’s music. I know the words to all her early songs and I have so shame screaming the lyrics at the top of my lungs when I’m driving and listening to her music.
  36. Watching vlogs. What can I say? I’m a snoop.
  37. Chai tea.
  38. Black coffee in bed. (The song, and the drink)
  39. Stuffed animals.
  40. Books.
  41. The smell of books.
  42. New paper and empty notebooks.
  43. Movies.
  44. Small bible studies.
  45. OLDIES MUSIC. I didn’t know the Top 40 was a thing until I was 11. I grew up on the oldies.
  46. Pipe organs that are ancient and take up entire walls.
  47. Ukuleles.
  48. Stained glass.
  49. Toothpaste. Oddly enough. (The DNCE song and the actual thing)
  50. Driving late at night when there’s not many other people out on the road.

Now, I would love it if you guys would list some of the things that make you happy! What are the big and little things in life that make you smile? I would love to see them!

Weekend to Weekend: Adventure in Philly and Friendsgiving

Hello everyone!

So the last week, starting with last weekend, has been pretty nuts for me. Mostly, I was just stressing about the lasts quizzes and papers I had due last week and in the couple of days coming up before Thanksgiving Break, but there were some exciting things as well. We’ll begin with…

// SUNDAY //

Last Sunday I went to Philly to see my cousin at the Craft Show at the Convention Center last Sunday. I took the train with my parents, which was crazy. There must have been an Eagles game going on that night, because almost every seat on that train was filled. However, I was lucky enough to land a window seat on the way there. I watched the gorgeous farmland and countryside pass me by the entire train ride.

By the time we got to Philadelphia’s 30th Street Station, it was around noon. We had lunch at the train station’s cafeteria, which was surprisingly diverse in its options. I ended up having a grilled cheese from one of the stands, and it was delicious.  Then, we walked about a mile to the Convention Center. Along the way, we passed City Hall and a gorgeous cathedral, and I fan-girled over the gorgeous architecture. Because I’m a total geek like that, I guess. Here are only a fraction of the pictures that I took of the buildings, and of the LOVE sign, as well!

Here are some other pictures of the walk to the Convention center:

I wasn’t sure if I was allowed to take pictures of the art at the Craft Show, but i wish i had more pictures than I do of all of the amazing pieces that were there. There was jewelry, sculptures, ceramics, and even instruments. The genius of the people featured there blew my mind.

By the time we were walking back to the train, I was exhausted after being on me feet all day. However, that still didn’t stop me from my picture taking frenzy. Here is one of my favorites from the evening:

// WEDNESDAY //

On Wednesday of this week, my college held it’s Thanksgiving Dinner. It is a tradition here, and almost everyone comes out and partakes in this yearly tradition. Then, after we’ve all stuffed ourselves with mashed potatoes and pie, we all gather around the biggest elm tree on campus and have our Christmas Tree lighting ceremony. Santa comes, of course, and after the tree is lit, the president of the college reads us a Christmas story. There’s hot chocolate and cookies, and it’s possibly one of my favorite events during the entire year.

And, me being me, you know I took a million pictures. Here’s a few!

The dress that I wore for the Thanksgiving Dinner was loaned to me by my fabulous roommate. Everyone dresses to the 9’s for the event and I couldn’t decide what I wanted to wear. Then, of course, the leggings, scarf, and parka came out for the tree lighting.

This weekend was fun as well, even though most of it was spent studying and writing papers. The most notable night was Saturday, when my friends and I decided to go off campus for dinner and go to a restaurant in town. We waited nearly an hour for our food, but it was worth it when it finally did come. I got veggie fajitas, and they were to die for. Then, to top the night off, we all watched She’s The Man in my dorm room. Breaking up the busy week and weekend with having fun with my best friends made all of that stress worth it (or, livable). Laughter makes anything better.
